Who we are

Ethos Electrical designs and installs solar, battery storage and EV charging systems for homes across South East Queensland. We are based in Cornubia, Brisbane, and hold Queensland electrical contractor licence S1202303.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

This website is not an online store. It sells nothing, takes no payments, and we will never ask you for card, bank account or government ID numbers through it. What we ask for is what we need to quote and install a system.

What we collect

When you ask us for a quote — through the form on this site, by phone or by email — we collect your name, phone number, email address, the suburb or address of the property, what you are interested in, and anything else you choose to tell us.

When we design or install a system we collect the property address and site access details, roof photos and measurements, switchboard and meter details, your electricity retailer and metering identifier (NMI), and any recent electricity bills or usage data you give us so we can size the system correctly. We also photograph the completed work for our compliance and warranty records.

When you browse this site our analytics tools record your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how you arrived here, and cookie identifiers. We see this as patterns across all visitors, not as a record of you by name.

We do not ask for sensitive information — health, racial or ethnic origin, political or religious views — and you should not send it to us.

How we use it

We use what we collect to:

• prepare your quote and follow it up;
• size and design a system for your property;
• book the work, carry it out and commission it;
• meet our electrical safety, licensing and compliance obligations;
• register your equipment warranties with the manufacturer;
• process rebate and certificate claims where you ask us to;
• provide after-sales support and system monitoring;
• answer questions and handle any complaint or warranty claim; and
• understand how this site is used and whether our advertising is working.

We only send marketing to people who have asked for it. If something arrives from us that you did not ask for, tell us and we will stop.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing. We share it only where the job needs it:

• Our own team — our employed electricians and installers, who need your address and job details to do the work.
• Equipment manufacturers and suppliers — to register your warranty and get technical support for your system.
• The Clean Energy Regulator and certificate agents — if you claim the small-scale renewable energy scheme discount on your system, your name, address and system details form part of that claim.
• Your electricity distributor and retailer — for grid connection approval and any metering change your system needs.
• Our service providers — website hosting, email and analytics, who act on our instructions.
• Our customer management system — an enquiry you send through this website is copied into GoHighLevel, the system we use to track quotes and follow up with you. It holds your name, phone number, email address, the address you gave us and what you asked about.
• Government bodies, regulators and insurers — where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

Some of these providers store information on servers outside Australia.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

This site uses Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) and the Meta (Facebook) pixel. They set cookies that tell us which pages get read, how people find us, and whether an ad led to an enquiry. They do not tell us who you are.

You can opt out at any time:

• block or delete cookies in your browser settings — this site still works without them;
• install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout;
• change your Meta ad settings at facebook.com/adpreferences;
• opt out of interest-based advertising from a range of providers at youronlinechoices.com.au.

We do not change what we collect when a browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, because there is still no agreed standard for how a site should respond to one.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not go ahead — we keep them while the quote is live and for a reasonable period afterwards, then delete them.
• Completed installations — we keep the job file for at least the ten years of our workmanship warranty, and for any longer period our electrical safety and licensing obligations require.

You can ask us to delete your information at any time and we will, unless we are required to keep it.

Keeping it safe

Your information is held in password-protected systems, and only the people who need it to do their job can reach it. No system is perfectly secure. If something goes wrong in a way that puts you at risk, we will tell you and tell you what to do about it.

Seeing or correcting your information

Email info@ethoselectrical.com.au and ask. Once we have confirmed who you are we will give you a copy of what we hold, or correct anything that is wrong. There is no charge, and we will come back to you within a reasonable time.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your information, email info@ethoselectrical.com.au and tell us what happened. We will look into it and write back to you.

If our answer does not resolve it, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top of this page is when it last changed, and the version published here is the one that applies.
